March 2008

PRESS RELEASE

17 MARCH 2008

Activiser’s interface to Titan will be using a new, simplified gateway framework that will facilitate also easy creation of new gateways to Activiser.

The MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 gateway is an implementation using this framework, and will be supplied with source code should clients wish to customise the code for specific requirements, or if they want an example of how to use the framework to build a gateway for some other system.

Activiser is pleased to report that it is on schedule to release the test gateway for technical evaluation by the end of March, as previously announced.   We expect to progress from ‘beta’ to final release within two months.  This will form our 3.5 version release, which also includes extended GPS capability.

Development Manager, Ryan Price, has overseen the gateway architecture, which allows for two key components:

1)      An inbound gateway web service.

2)      An outbound gateway plug-in facility.

The inbound gateway web service exposes a small set of web methods that provide basic ‘Create’, ‘Read’ and ‘Update’ functions for the Activiser core and custom-defined data. This web service is separate from the core web service so that the security can be configured differently (it may be desirable to allow anonymous access to the gateway functions, which is not permitted in the main web service).

The outbound plug-in is a .Net 3.0 assembly that implements a very basic interface (IOutputGateway) comprising one property (ConnectionString) and two methods (Test and Save). The ConnectionString property receives the connection information for the activiser database and is primarily provided to allow the plug-in to read any configuration data from the database. The ‘Save’ method simply accepts a .Net Typed DataSet that contains any updates that may need to be applied to the target system. The assembly is ‘registered’ by including the information in the web.config file for the activiser web service.
